Unable to boot Windows after installing Windows 7 beta on D: drive, it is giving disk read error?

My hard drive was partitioned in 3 –C, D and E. On C drive windows XP was installed from before and D and E were empty. So I downloaded the Windows 7 beta on D: drive and installed it, it was all working fine. So, I finally decided to format the C drive after copying data to E drive. To me everything was fine until I rebooted, but something must have gone wrong, since now it is giving “disk read error” and I can get to the desktop, as I don’t have the CD and I can’t also reinstall windows neither I want too for loosing my data.

prince11 		Such an error took place as you have mistakenly, and definitely unknowingly wiped out the partition that contained boot manager and master boot record that gives instructions to the OS for boot up and in it’s absence these processes could complete which makes the system un bootable.

If you don’t need XP anymore, you will have to boot from windows 7 CD, with it automatic repair will take place at startup. Also you can go to command prompt and try to fix the error by repairing master boot record with ‘Fixboot’ or ‘fixmbr’ and rebooting again chances for its working is less as the boot master is not corrupted it’s deleted. Unless it fails to do so, you will have to reinstall Windows 7 OS, for proper boot up and restore data with windows 7 data recovery software, since you don’t have the backup I think.
