How can I backup my sms messages to my mac computer?

I am using my old iPhone in which I have stored around more than thousand messages. From few weeks my iphone is working slowly and sometimes it hangs when I open two or three application at a time. I think I have to format my iphone but it has stored many sms and other data. I am using mac operating system so I don’t know how to backup my messages to my mac. Is there any backup software for mac that can backup my sms messages? Please suggest the best one.
