Inbox repair tool can’t always repair corrupt PST files. The reason behind it is the way scanpst.exe or the inbox repair tool works is inherently flawed. It works by attempting to repair the header of PTS file and then goes on to delete every thing in the PTS file that it doesn’t or can’t understand. What happens is this:
If your header is only corrupt or damaged, the inbox repair tool won’t have trouble repairing your PST file. How ever, if the data in the file is corrupted, scanpst will likely destroy every thing that is left and leave you with just nonsensical errors message and your PST file still corrupt.
