Error while converting MKV to iPod File Format ?

I have downloaded a latest video from a downloading site which one of the most favorite actors I like Johnny Depp. It was in MKV format and I saw it on my pc. Then I thought to put it in to my iPod too so that I can see it later on. Since iPod does not support the MKV file format, I thought that it is required to convert the movie first. I have used the GP3 converter which I had earlier used to convert the AVI files to iPod. When I tried to convert the MKV video, it said unsuccessful conversion and an error message occurred. So I am unable to convert the MKV videos to iPod file format. Please suggest any ideas.

MKV, it is a container file that can contain several video and audio formats along with the multiple audio streams and subtitles. But they are probably using the H.264 codec for the video. A program like the mediainfo can describe it well that what video and audio codecs have been used in your video.

You should go for the better programs like iPod file converter which is a powerful iPod audio and video file conversion utility. It has vast list of conversions available for several different audio and video file formats. It is capable to run over all the different versions of windows including the windows vista. You can also set the user defined parameters before the starting the conversion so that the output files becomes just like the same as you are looking for. There are trial version that always carry some limitation and so you need to check the trial and then move towards the purchase if the conversion is as per your requirement.
