Want to convert MTS video to other file formats- How can I do this?

Hi

I have a Sony hdr-sr-1 handy cam and I have recorded lots of videos in my camera. But when I want to play it to Media player than an error message appears.

“Unrecognized file format”

How can I come out of this problem? Can anyone suggest me?

You got this message because your videos are recorded in MTS file format. MTS files are a type of AVCHD file format that are used by many camcorders like Sony, Panasonic and Canon for making HD videos.

Most of the media player does not support this file format so you need to convert your MTS files to other file formats.
